As from Autumn,1989 the National Curriculum is taught to all children of primary school age.
The National Curriculum consists of nine foundation subjects (for primary schools) of which three are also known as ‘core’ subjects, plus Religious Education.
Curriculum for each year group
Children are taught mainly in a year group with a class teacher to each class. All our teaching is designed to ensure that children are taught at a level appropriate to their ability, and programmes are developed for individuals, small groups and sometimes for the whole class. If a topic is covered more than once during a child’s time in our school, the attainment level will be different. All work is forecast and planned and careful records kept of children’s progress to facilitate continuity of education.

The DFE state the National Curriculum will:
Children are tested (S.A.T.S) towards the end of Key Stage One (Year 2) and Key Stage Two (Year 6). These results are reported to parents. From June 2012 Year One children now sit a nationwide reading test.
English, Mathematics, Science and ICT are seen as the ‘core’ to help children study all other subjects. Obviously the National Curriculum is only part of the total workin school for your child.
Health Education, Drama and other areas are also covered.
